When considering my consumer behaviour, I view it as a cycle that results in a decrease in my capital. However, it also propels me towards generating more and better capital and achieving the life that I desire.
- Decreasing my capital: I define capital as my time, as everything can be converted into time. For example, the money I earn as an employee or the time I spend watching YouTube and its advertisements. Additionally, I need to invest time in the product or service, such as placing orders, comparing products, using them, taking care of them, and so on.
- Resetting my life: A product or service serves as a tool to fulfill my needs, ranging from basic needs to safety or even self-actualization. For instance, purchasing food or a book. Recently, I've come to realize that consuming something not only fulfills a need or desire but also resets my life. It helps me discover a new direction or regain my path. As an example, I bought the book "Show Your Work" by Austin Kleon, and reading this book motivated me to start posting on my website again.
- Leading to another purchase: After consuming certain things, my focus often shifts towards those items and their related counterparts. For instance, after purchasing the book by Austin Cleon, I feel inspired to post my work on my website again, and I recognize the need for better tools to enhance the quality of my posts. I'm also considering subscribing to Notion and planning dedicated time for daily posting.
